BIRDWELL TAPPED TO SERVE ON SENATE SELECT COMMITTEE ON REDISTRICTING

October 20, 2020

On Tuesday, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick appointed State Senator Brian Birdwell (R-Granbury) to the Senate’s bi-partisan 2021 Senate Select Committee on Redistricting.

“I am honored to be selected to serve on the Senate’s redistricting committee, and will be a strong voice for the people of Senate District 22 as district lines are redrawn.” Birdwell said. “I am profoundly grateful to the Lieutenant Governor for the opportunity to serve on this important committee.”

The redistricting process happens every ten years after the results of the census are completed. The redrawing of boundaries from state and federal districts must happen to ensure the fulfillment of the constitutional mandate of equal representation.

In a statewide press release, Lt. Governor Patrick said “I am proud to appoint Sen. Birdwell to the Redistricting Committee. I know he will bring his legendary work ethic as well as his insight to this critical committee” The full release can be found online.

In addition to this new role, Senator Birdwell serves as Chairman of the Natural Resources and Economic Development Committee and as a member of the Senate Committees on Finance, and State Affairs.
